ABOUT US

The Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (Society of Rosicrucians in England or SRIA) is an independent Christian society. Admission is limited to Master Masons who are subscribing members of a Lodge under the Grand Lodge of England or a jurisdiction in amity with Grand Lodge and who accept and believe in the fundamental principles of the Trinitarian Christian faith.

The diffusion of Light and the advancement of Science.

The Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA) is the Rosicrucian society for Freemasons who desire to enquire "why" rather than perhaps accept the usual answer "We always have". We invite all Master Masons of an inquiring and philosophical or even spiritual disposition to join us in our quest for universal understanding of ourselves and of what we do as Freemasons. Ask and we will open your door to our mysteries.

Contemplating the Hidden mysteries of Nature and Science

As places of leaning and study, our Lodges are termed “Colleges”. Our rituals are uncomplicated but impart important information to the thinking Mason, with particular reference to the “Hidden mysteries of Nature and Science.” A typical College meeting includes the ceremonial work of our various grades followed by the presentation of papers and discussion. Papers have been presented on subjects ranging from Alchemy to Led Zepplin. Discussions often continue at the Festive Board and afterwards!

There are nine grades in the Society and our regalia (for the first seven grades anyway) is a simple breast jewel, which itself if full of symbolism. We have three Orders or levels: the First Order (grades I – IV) is that of student. The Second Order (grades V – VII) is that of teacher, and the Third Order (grades VIII – IX) is that of Ruler.

A little more about our origins

The Societas Rosicrucian In Anglia is the oldest independent society of Rosicrucian Freemasons in the world, its members being Master Masons of Lodges recognised by the United Grand Lodge of England. It assists Freemasons to extend their researches into the hidden mysteries of nature, science and truth.
